Waterjet cutting provides tremendous flexibility in plate processing and manufacturing. This method is climate-friendly and consistently delivers smooth, uniform results.
It is one of the fastest growing cutting processes because it can reduce costs and increase production efficiency for many materials.
The Machines
- (1) CNC Flow Mach 4 Waterjet, 157" x 235" cutting area, 100 hp (90,000 psi) intensified pump
- (1) CNC waterjet system, 96" x 144" cutting area with 50 hp blast pump
- Two dynamic cutting heads and tolerance range of +/- .001 to +/- .005
The Capabilities
- Cuts 20 gauge through 4" thick materials
- Cuts carbon, alloy, stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper
- Suitable for heat-sensitive materials without heat-affected zones
- Capable of cutting parts up to 157" x 235"
The Process
Water is pressurized above 90,000 psi, then forced through the cutting head to create an ultra-high velocity stream. Source Metals uses abrasive waterjet for metal cutting and fine edge quality.
The Benefits
- Little to no thermal distortion
- Excellent edge finish with reduced secondary processing
- High precision and broad material flexibility
