Source Metals provides quality flame cutting services with quick turnaround times. Our department uses CNC controlled machines designed for both accuracy and speed.
Flame cutting remains a mainstay in plate processing because the process is efficient and economical, helping lower production cost for structural and industrial parts.
The Machines
- (2) CNC pattern torch burning systems
- 8 oxy acetylene torch heads
- 10' x 44' cutting area with Burny3 CNC control
The Capabilities
- Steel plate cutting up to 8" thick
- Simple and complex shapes from carbon and alloy plate
- Standard tolerance from +1/16" to +1/2"
The Process
Flame cutting (oxy-fuel) uses fuel gas and oxygen to preheat metal and then applies pure oxygen to drive the cut. The reaction heat sustains the cutting action and allows efficient thick-plate processing.
The Benefits
- Inexpensive steel cutting method
- Strong dimensional tolerance
- Faster production than many mechanical alternatives
